Buzzkills (AKA Dublin based artist, Phil Dobie) returns with “The Past Cannot Be Changed”, a dark and emotionally charged single on May 30th. Known for his cinematic alt-pop and lyrical intensity, Buzzkills strips things back for a raw exploration of regret, identity, and irreversible decisions.
Opening with the ominous countdown “Factory reset in 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1,” the track wastes no time in plunging into its themes — lost time, internal conflict, and the devastating finality of choice. A chilling refrain — “The past cannot be changed / We don’t get to do this again” — echoes throughout, giving the song a ritualistic, almost funeral-like weight.
“It’s about reaching the point where you realize there’s no reboot, no fresh start,” says Phil. “That’s a terrifying place to be — and I wanted to sit with that.”
